In the picturesque setting just outside the Kruger National Park, the inspiring story of Eagle Dough Buddies unfolds. This once-modest bakery has been transformed into a celebrated supplier of artisan bread, rolls, doughnuts, and much more, thanks to the dedicated support of Kruger Shalati and Kruger Station. This month, Eagle Dough Buddies marked a significant milestone with its official launch at the Kruger Station’s Food & Wine in the Wild festival.

Community Commitment and Incubation
The brothers behind Eagle Dough Buddies, Sipho and Believe, were identified by Kruger Station and Kruger Shalati in 2020 as potential enterprise development candidates – in partnership with SANParks. Following our ethos of giving back to the community it was quickly identified that the brothers were facing challenges as a small enterprise with limited skills and equipment. Thanks to Sipho and Believe’s commitment to their craft, coupled with the incubation project, the bakery has gone from strength to strength – enhancing their capabilities and nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit.
Through dedicated support, Eagle Dough Buddies expanded its offerings from basic bread to a variety of artisan products, now proudly supplying baked goods to Kruger Shalati, the deli and restaurant at Kruger Station as well as the wider Kruger National Park.

Celebrating Success and Future Growth
Eagle Dough Buddies’ journey epitomises small, medium, and micro enterprise (SMME) development, showcasing the tangible impact on local lives. The bakery’s success has created employment opportunities, inspired entrepreneurial spirit, and contributed to local economic growth.
The story of Eagle Dough Buddies highlights the transformative power of strategic partnerships and community-focused initiatives. From a struggling bakery to a celebrated supplier, Eagle Dough Buddies continues to inspire as a beacon of hope and resilience.
